JUDO

Tuesday class runs from 5:45 PM till 7:15 PM (Instructor: Sensei Varies)

Saturday class runs from 10:00 AM till 11:30 AM (Instructor: Sensei Varies)

  • Developed in Japan during the 1800s from more primitive jujitsu wrestling systems, modern Judo is a fast-paced and dynamic Olympic sport, a system of self-defense and police training, and a recreational fitness program. Judo uses safe, science-based, training to build mastery of grappling techniques to throw, pin, and control an opponent. In Judo you will learn how to absorb the impact of falls without injury, how to redirect the force of an attack, and how to use leverage, off-balancing, and timing to control larger and stronger opponents.
  • Our friendly 90-minute adult classes consist of extended warm-ups and holistic physical fitness drills, technical training, and free practice. Classes are usually team taught by coaches with nearly a century of collective international Judo training. Beginners are always welcome and loaner training uniforms are available.

KIDS JUDO

Wednesday

Class runs from 2:30 PM till 4:00 PM (Instructors: Sensei Eric / Coach James)

  • Developed in Japan during the 1800s from more primitive jujitsu wresting systems, modern Judo is a fast-paced and dynamic Olympic sport, an effective and ethical system of self-defense, and a recreational fitness program. Judo uses safe, science-based, training to build mastery of grappling techniques to throw, pin, and control an opponent. In Judo your child will learn how to absorb the impact falls without injury, how to redirect the force of an attack, and how to use leverage, off-balancing, and timing to control larger and stronger opponents.
  • This class emphasizes the development of youth resilience, self-confidence, and motor skills control. Our friendly 90-minute classes consist of extended warm-ups and holistic physical fitness drills, technical training, and free practice. Opportunities for regional Judo tournament participation are also available.
  • Training is led by Eric Lee-Mäder, a third-degree blackbelt instructor with more than 30 years of grappling experience, including state, national, and international-level competition, as well as training at the Kodokan Judo Institute in Japan. As part of the International Olympic Committee, accredited Judo instructors maintain routine certification on the prevention of head injuries, maintaining safe/respectful training environments, and mandatory criminal background screening and mandatory abuse and misconduct training. Safety, fun, and individual support and development are the guiding class priorities. Sensei Eric is assisted by coach James for the duration of this class

Youth Karate and Wushu

Thursdays

Class runs from 4:00 till 5:00 (Instructor Roarke Jennings)

This class combines karate and wushu (performance kung fu) to cultivate mind, body, and spirit.

Wushu emphasizes fluid movements and weapons, while karate emphasizes more linear movements and ‘the empty hand’. Both involve techniques involving strikes, blocks, and kicks, with a strong connection to East Asian philosophy and aesthetics.

Training will include stretching, basic movements, forms, and meditation.

A gi is required to participate in class!

JIU JITSU

Monday and Thursday

Classes run from 5:30 PM till 7:00 PM (Instructor: Professor Steve Maxwell)

Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie and Luiz França by master Mitsuyo MaedaCarlos Gracie is known as the Founder and Creator of Modern Jiu Jitsu (Gracie Jiu Jitsu/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their extended family. Today, Jiu Jitsu has become one of the most widely practiced grappling arts & sports in the world.

Steves class is a unique opportunity you do not want to miss. Teaching the very roots of Jiu Jitsu. Steve is the first American to receive a black belt from Relson Gracie and be approved to teach Gracie Jiu Jitsu in the USA. He will give you a straight forward and highly applicable approach to one of the most potent and practical martial arts for self defense effectiveness.

Hand to Hand Foundations

Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday

Classes run from 6:30 AM till 7:20 AM (Instructor: Coach James)

Take your martial skills to the next level as we meld concepts from Dutch kickboxing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, submission wrestling and pankration. We explore real world martial arts concepts and adapt them to enhance what will work for YOUR unique size, strength, skill level and mindset.  Smooth out your physical training with progressive compound movements, enhancing your ability to use martial principles through calisthenic strength and conditioning.

Kick Boxing 

Wednesday

Class runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Instructor: Coach James)

Develop your stand up skills utilizing techniques originating from Dutch kickboxing and San Shau. We work with live partners to get your mixed martial art focused stand up fighting skill and conditioning on point We utilize focus mitts, thai pads, suitcase pads and belly pads to strictly emphasize the importance of range, level, angle, speed, focus, breath, precision, timing and much much more.

Sparring

Saturdays

This session runs from 6:30 AM until 8:30 AM (Supervisor: Coach James)

It’s play time!!! A safe space to practice most of those techniques you’ve been learning. Go with the flow according to the revolving sparring style set for the day or ask other participants if they would like to spar in a different way. Safety and proficiency is the focus in this session so please check your ego at the door.

Strength and Conditioning Fundamentals

Wednesday / Friday

Class 1 runs from 7:30 AM till 8:20 AM (Instructor: Coach James)

Class 2 runs from 8:30 AM till 9:20 AM (Instructor: Coach James)

Calisthenics, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), and various fitness modalities at a foundational level. Learn exercise progressions that increase your overall strength, physical and mental well being, brain functioning, mood, bone density, muscularity, balance, stamina, heart health and much more; while conversely decreasing weight and the risk or symptoms of many common chronic diseases. Crucial for living a better and longer life, strength and conditioning is one of the cornerstones of long term health, especially when done with a community of dedicated folks. Consider checking in with your health professional if you have personal limitations or concerns in regard to this type of training. 

Intermediate Strength and Conditioning

Open Circuit

Tuesday / Thursday

Runs from 7:30 PM till 9:00 PM (Supervisor: Coach James)

The Hive will be set up with all of the intermediate and foundational strength and conditioning exercises that will be done the very next morning. This is your opportunity to spend more time with the movements that best fit your mood or just do the circuit as it is set up. Yeah it’s kind of a free for all thing, for monthly or annual members only.
